Can Jesus Be The Centerpiece of My Life?

Life has a way of competing for our attention. Work, family, finances, responsibilities, and even good activities can slowly crowd out what matters most. Before we realize it, Jesus has moved from being the center of our lives to simply being part of our lives.

How does that happen? More importantly, how do we bring Him back to the center?

Every Life Has a Center

Whether we recognize it or not, every life revolves around something. It may be success, comfort, relationships, security, or personal goals. Whatever occupies the center ultimately shapes our priorities, decisions, and perspective.

The Bible reminds us that Jesus alone deserves that place. Colossians 1:17–18 teaches that Christ is before all things, that in Him all things hold together, and that He has first place in everything. When Jesus becomes the defining reality of our lives, everything else begins to find its proper place.

Keeping Jesus at the center doesn’t happen by accident. It requires intentional choices made one day at a time.

Re-Center Your Heart Daily

The writer of Hebrews encourages believers to run life’s race by “fixing our eyes on Jesus” (Hebrews 12:1–2). Even sincere followers of Christ experience seasons of spiritual drift, but drift doesn’t have to define us. We can return to Him through prayer, reading Scripture, worship, and simple acts of obedience.

Instead of beginning your day by asking, “What do I need to accomplish today?” try asking a different question: “Lord Jesus, how can I honor You today?”

That simple prayer can reshape your priorities before the day even begins. Walking with Jesus isn’t about achieving perfection. It’s about returning to Him day after day until following Him becomes the defining pattern of your life.
