Really Knowing God?
Many people believe in God. They attend church, read the Bible, and even pray regularly. Yet deep inside they still wonder, Do I really know God, or do I simply know about Him?
There is an important difference. Knowing facts about God is not the same as having a growing relationship with Him. The Bible teaches that eternal life is rooted in knowing God personally, not merely accumulating knowledge about Him.
God Invites You Into a Relationship
Jesus prayed these remarkable words in John 17:3, “Now this is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.”
God never intended prayer to become a religious routine or simply a list of requests. Prayer is His invitation to know Him more deeply. As you spend time talking with Him, listening through His Word, and becoming aware of His presence throughout your day, your relationship with Him grows.
The goal of prayer is not simply to get answers from God—it is to know God Himself.
Move Beyond Routine
Many believers unintentionally allow prayer to become functional. We pray when we need help, wisdom, or provision. Those are good things to pray about, but they should not become the only focus of our conversations with God.
The apostle Paul prayed that believers would know God better: Ephesians 1:17–18 “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.”
This week, add one simple request to your daily prayers: “Father, help me know You more deeply today.”
As you seek Him consistently, you’ll begin to recognize His guidance, experience His peace, and become more aware of His presence in everyday life.
