Why Jesus Changes Everything

Death is one of the deepest fears people face. Even strong believers can wrestle with grief, uncertainty, or questions about what happens after this life ends. We live in a world marked by sickness, loss, and disappointment. Every day reminds us that life on earth is temporary.

That is why the words Jesus spoke in John 11 still bring such powerful hope. Standing near the tomb of Lazarus, Jesus said:

“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” — John 11:25 This was far more than a comforting statement. Jesus was revealing His divine authority and the heart of His mission.

Jesus Has Power Over Death

When Martha spoke with Jesus before Lazarus was raised, she believed in a future resurrection someday. Jesus directed her attention to something greater — Himself.  He did not simply teach about eternal life. He declared that He is the resurrection and the life.

“For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself.” — John 5:26

The resurrection is not a secondary Christian belief. It is the foundation of the gospel. Without the resurrection, Christianity becomes little more than moral teaching. But because Jesus conquered death, believers have living hope.

The resurrection confirms:

  • Jesus is the Son of God
  • His sacrifice for sin was accepted
  • Death does not have the final word
  • Eternal life is available through Him

It also reminds us that Jesus still brings renewal today. He restores discouraged hearts. He gives strength to weary believers. He changes lives from the inside out.

The Resurrection Changes How We Live

Before Lazarus came out of the tomb, Jesus prayed publicly so the people would understand that He had been sent by the Father. Then He called Lazarus from the grave and demonstrated His authority over death itself.

The miracle pointed to a greater truth: Jesus alone has the power to give eternal life. That invitation still stands today. Many people respect Jesus as a teacher or spiritual leader. But Jesus calls us to more than admiration. He calls us to trust Him completely as Savior and Lord.

The resurrection is not merely a historical event to celebrate at Easter. It is a present reality that changes how believers face life every day. Because Jesus is the resurrection and the life:

  • we can face hardship with hope
  • we can live with eternal perspective
  • we can trust Him during uncertainty
  • we can experience spiritual renewal through Him

No situation is beyond His power. No life is too broken for His grace.

A Hope That Is Sufficient

The resurrection of Jesus is profoundly significant because it answers humanity’s greatest need. It gives hope beyond death, assurance of salvation, and confidence that Christ is exactly who He claimed to be.

If you feel discouraged or weary today, remember this truth: the same Jesus who stood before the tomb of Lazarus still offers life, hope, and renewal to those who trust Him. His promise is still sufficient.

Next week we will explore Romans 12:1-2 and what it means to become a living sacrifice for Christ.

Until next time — get wisdom and pursue truth.
Blessings, Steve
