Start With the Word: Jesus the Bread of Life and Foundation of our Faith
The Foundation That Never Shifts:
Every strong life begins with a strong foundation. For followers of Christ, that foundation is not a plan, program, or resolution—it is a Person.
As a new year begins, we often resolve to do more, grow more, or change more. But lasting transformation comes only when our lives are built on Jesus, the Living Word of God: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” — John 1:1 (NIV)
Jesus is not only the author of Scripture; He is its fulfillment. He is the Word made flesh—the truth of God revealed and the foundation of all faith. When we begin with Him, everything else aligns in purpose and direction.
The Bread That Truly Satisfies
In John 6, after miraculously feeding thousands, Jesus declared: “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” — John 6:35 (NIV)
Crowds followed Him for physical bread, but Jesus offered something greater—spiritual nourishment that lasts forever.
The same truth echoes from the prophet Isaiah: “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat!” — Isaiah 55:1 (NIV)
Jesus alone can satisfy the deepest hunger of the soul. When we come to Him, we find peace where there was restlessness, fullness where there was emptiness, and life where there was longing. No success, possession, or relationship can compare to the satisfaction found in Christ, the Bread of Life.
Start Each Day with the Word
We live in a world that constantly competes for our attention. But true strength and direction begin when we start with the Word: “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” — Matthew 4:4 (NIV)
Scripture is our spiritual nourishment. It renews our minds, quiets our hearts, and anchors our souls in truth. Reading God’s Word is not just a discipline—it’s an encounter with the Living Christ.
When we spend time in His Word, we don’t just learn about Him—we meet Him. And through that daily fellowship, faith grows strong and life takes shape around His will.
Keep Your Eyes on Jesus
Faith flourishes when our focus stays fixed on Jesus. He is both the Word who reveals God’s truth and the Bread who sustains life. If we drift from His Word, we lose direction. But when we abide in Him, we discover strength, wisdom, and peace that carry us through every challenge.
This year, begin each day not with plans or pressure, but with His presence. Feed on His truth. Listen for His voice.
Build your life on the One who never changes—Jesus, the Living Word and Bread of Life.
Until next time—get wisdom and pursue truth.
Blessings, Steve
