The Values That Shape Your Life

Every person is driven by values. They influence your choices, shape your character, and chart the course of your future. The real question is this: Are your values godly—or guided by culture and convenience?

Proverbs 4:26 urges us to: “Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.” Establishing core values rooted in Scripture helps you walk a straight path and stay grounded when life is uncertain.

Core values are more than ideals—they are commitments that define who you are becoming. They act like a compass, always pointing you toward the right direction, even when emotions or worldly pressures pull you elsewhere. Some biblical core values include:

• Gratitude

• Honor
• Justice

As Proverbs 11:13 reminds us: “A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.” So, when trustworthiness becomes a core value, it safeguards relationships and honors God.

Living Out Your Values Daily

It’s easy to talk about values. It’s harder to live them. But lasting life change happens when what we believe becomes how we behave.

• Humility keeps pride in check.
• Forgiveness releases bitterness.
• Gratitude produces joy.
• Kindness reflects Christ to others.

Proverbs 24:26 says: “An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.” Honesty and integrity not only please God but refresh those around us.

Take time this week to clarify the values that will guide your life. Write them down. Pray over them. Share them with someone you trust. Then commit to live them consistently, regardless of the circumstances. Consider these questions:
