Are You Truly Following Jesus?
What It Really Means to Pursue Christ Daily
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” —Matthew 4:19 NIV
Faith Isn’t Just Belief—It’s a Relationship
When Jesus said, “Follow me,” He wasn’t inviting people to adopt a label. He was inviting them into a daily, personal relationship.
“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.”
—John 8:31 NIV
To follow Jesus is to know Him—not just agree with His ideas. It’s about prayer, trust, obedience, and aligning your heart with His.
As Psalm 105:4 NIV urges:
“Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually.”
Following Jesus begins with relationship—but it deepens through pursuit.
Discipleship Is a Daily Pursuit
Faith in Jesus isn’t a one-time decision—it’s a daily direction.
“Now devote your heart and soul to seeking the Lord your God.”
—1 Chronicles 22:19 NIV
Discipleship means movement, devotion, and intention. It’s a pursuit that shapes your choices, priorities, and identity. It’s about seeking Jesus more than comfort, success, or approval.
Ask yourself:
- Am I actively seeking Jesus today?
- Am I choosing Him even when it’s hard?
Following Jesus Requires Intentional Living
Jesus never promised ease. He promised purpose.
“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
—Luke 9:23 NIV
To follow Jesus means you choose truth over trends, obedience over comfort, and surrender over self. You don’t need perfection to follow Jesus—but you do need intentionality.
Every morning presents a new opportunity to say: “Yes, Lord. Lead me.”
What It Means to Truly Follow Christ
Here’s what discipleship looks like in real life:
- You prioritize relationship with Jesus over religion.
- You stay connected through Scripture and prayer.
- You make life choices based on His truth.
- You seek Him daily—when it’s easy and when it’s not.
Discipleship is not about having all the answers. It’s about following the One who does.
Reflection Questions
Consider these in prayer or journaling this week:

- What am I trusting more than Him right now?
- What practical step can I take this week to grow spiritually?
A Final Word of Encouragement
Jesus isn’t looking for fans. He’s calling followers.
If you’ve drifted—come back.
If you’re unsure—start small.
If you’re committed—go deeper.
Jesus said, “Come, follow me.” That invitation still stands. Will you say yes today?
